A Community of Farmers in Huehuetenango

High in the Guatemalan mountains, at altitudes of 1,800–2,000 meters, lies the municipality of Huehuetenango—a region renowned for its exceptional coffee. Here, 400 family-owned farms cultivate coffee on small plots of land, often intercropped with corn and beans to sustain their families.

With limited infrastructure for coffee processing, these producers partner with Unitrade Coffee, an export company that provides a centrally located wet mill. This partnership allows farmers to process their coffee cherries efficiently while maintaining the highest quality. Beyond coffee, Unitrade supports local communities through CoffeeCare, an initiative focused on education, nutrition, and health, ensuring that farmers’ children have a safe and nurturing environment while their parents work during harvest season.
